Modi government introduces big changes in Indian Passports! Top 6 things one must know

indian passport, indian passport lotus, indian passport status, indian passport lotus symbol, passport status, passport india, indian passport changes
Indian Passports

National Informatics Centre (NIC), and the Indian Security Press (Nasik) have worked in tandem with MEA to upgrade passport for travelers. Indian Passports get lotus symbol, more security features! In a move to check the menace of fake passports, the national flower ‘Lotus’ has been imprinted on Indian Passports, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has said. The central government has stated that it would also use other national symbols in a rotational way. People who have recently obtained an Indian Passport, as well as those who want to apply, must take note of the changes that have brought in by the central government.

Indian passports: Here are the top changes

1. Lotus is the national flower and has been imprinted on the passports as part of the enhanced security features to check fake passports, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said.
2. If we compare the old passports with this highly secured and changed one, we will find that the ‘Lotus’ has replaced the space for the signature of the passport officer. The old passport used to have a space for a passport officer’s signature and seal on the second page. Lotus has been imprinted in the rectangular shape on the second page of the new passport.
3. Old passports used to have separate columns for entering passport holders’ names and addresses. New passports no longer have these separate columns.
4. There are new codes which are being used in the new Indian passports. New passports with special features were first made available at passport offices in Kochi in November.
5. It has been learnt that better quality of paper has been used for new Indian passports along with improved printing technology. The printing process has been done in Maharashtra’s Nashik.
6. National Informatics Centre (NIC), and the Indian Security Press (Nasik) have worked in tandem with MEA to upgrade passport for travellers.
United Nations specialized agency International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has given its approval for the new features. The MEA has also revealed that a plethora of changes will come pertaining to passports from time to time.
The MEA is also working on e-passports with an aim to prepare a new passport booklet with modern security features. The E-passport is basically a biometric-based passport. This will include a chip and can be used at automated ePassport gates.

CAB protests: Internet blackout in parts of Assam from 7 pm

In an official notification, the Assam government said that a prohibition on mobile data and internet services was being suspended for the next 24 hours, starting from 7 pm.

he Assam government has decided to impose an internet blackout in 10 districts of Assam for 24 hours, starting at 7 pm on Wednesday. The blackout has been imposed in an effort to control the violent protests underway across the state against the Citizenship Amendment Bill under consideration by the Rajya Sabha.
The bill seeks to provide citizenship to non-Muslims migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, who faced religious persecution in their country.
The violent protests were raging on in several parts of Assam, as student bodies have demanded an immediate withdrawal of the bill, saying that giving citizenship to illegal immigrants will affect opportunities available to locals.
In an official notification, the Assam government said that a prohibition on mobile data and internet services were being suspended for next 24 hours, starting from 7 pm, "in order to prevent the misuse of the media to disturb the peace and tranquility of the state and maintaining the law and order".
The government has also requisitioned two Army columns and have put them on stand by at Bongaigaon and Dibrugarh to be deployed if the situation escalates.
Tens of thousands of protesters against the CAB descended on the streets of Assam, clashing with police and plunging the state into chaos of a magnitude unseen since the violent six-year movement by students that ended with the signing of the Assam accord.
Though no party or student body has called a shutdown, protesters, a majority of them students, fought pitched battles with security forces in the restive state, including in front of the secretariat, the seat of the BJP government. Police fired tear gas shells and baton-charged protesters, who fought back.
Assam smouldered with protests rocking several parts of the state on the day the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill is being hotly debated in the Rajya Sabha after its passage by the Lok Sabha.

Helmet Not Compulsory In Gujarat 2019 | Government Announced

Gujarat Government takes a major decision to make use of helmet while riding two-wheelers within limits of municipalities and municipal corporations voluntary and not compulsory.

Now #Helmet not compulsory while driving two wheeler in urban areas of #Gujarar: state cabinet decision

Wearing helmets in urban areas is not compulsory in Gujarat now, state government decides in cabinet meeting today.

Helmets save lives and should be encouraged (but not compulsory)

Court has made it compulsory to wear helmet for both rider and pillion. If a person does not wear helmet, he/she is not causing any trouble to traffic or other commuters. Wearing a helmet is safety precaution. I respect that and it should be left as a safety guideline only. It should not be made a law. Making helmets compulsory is against basic notion on freedom. Wearing a helmet is very uncomfortable, especially in Indian summers.

I request the Supreme Court of India to make wearing helmet a safety guideline and not a law.

A high level parliamentary meeting to discuss the alarming levels of air pollution in Delhi was cancelled after several of the MPs, who were supposed to attend it, skipped it.
Cricketer-turned politician Gautam Gambhir, whose name was among the Lok Sabha members summoned for the meeting, also skipped the meeting as he is currently on a leisure trip to Indore.
As soon as this was out that Gambhi too skipped the meeting, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) attacked the former cricketer and asked him to stop playing ‘blame games’.
